hapax

edition 4. the previous 3 are gone.

hapax legomenon — a word that appears exactly once in a language, and so cannot be fully translated.

Every day at midnight UTC a machine decides what this website is and builds the whole thing. Twenty-four hours later that site is deleted. There is no public archive. If you saw it, you are one of the only people who ever will.

No human approves the page before you do. Some days it will be good. Some days it will be unbearable. Both are the work.

The number in the header is who is here — hashed, forgotten within the hour, not a product metric. The machine keeps a private note so it does not copy itself. The maker keeps a private copy of the files, shown to no one. If a day needs a video, that player is YouTube.

You can leave a whisper. Most are ignored.

Made by a person who then got out of the way. This page, the header, and the whisper box are the only things here that stay the same.
